Doulas do not perform clinical tasks; doulas do not diagnose medical conditions, offer second opinions or give medical advice. Doulas do not make decisions for their clients and never projects their own values and goals onto the laboring woman.

Belief
Cedar Birth Services fully understands and values early attachment between parents and their children. Connecting with your child doesn't mean you start when he/she can say "mama" or "dada"; it starts in utero. Cedar Birth Services upholds the belief that the birth process isn't just the day your baby was born. Rather that childbirth is a process that can be experienced multisensory: physically, spiritually and emotionally.

The Doula
When families are supported with continuous emotional and physical comfort, this not only leads to better obstetric outcomes but also fosters relationship between parents and their babies. Laboring mothers need and deserve consistent, continuous reassurance, encouragement and respect based on their personalized preference. Doulas are trained and experienced in the childbirth process. Doulas can enhance the experience by offering help and advice on comfort measures. Doulas also assist couples on becoming informed on their choices in childbirth. And most importantly, these special labor companions make it their goal to help the woman have a safe and satisfying childbirth as the woman defines it.
